Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) will increase service frequency on Route 7 beginning Monday, October 26, 2026, providing riders with more frequent service during weekday morning and afternoon peak periods.
Beginning October 26, Route 7 will operate every 15 minutes Monday through Friday from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.
Route 7 will continue to operate every 30 minutes during all other weekday hours. Saturday service will remain every 30 minutes throughout the day.
The Route 7 frequency increase is the first in a series of planned CAT service improvements made possible by investments from Charlottesville City Council and the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. Those investments have funded additional driver positions to support expanded transit service throughout the community.
“Increasing frequency on Route 7 is an important first step as we work to provide more convenient and reliable transit service throughout our community,” said Garland Williams, Director of Charlottesville Area Transit. “We appreciate the continued investments from Charlottesville City Council and the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors that are helping us expand service and better meet the needs of our riders.”
The increased frequency will give Route 7 riders more travel options during weekday peak periods and greater flexibility when planning trips and making connections. CAT fixed-route service remains fare-free.
