A Stuarts Draft man is dead after suffering life-threatening injuries in an Albemarle County car crash.
At around 4 p.m. Wednesday, the Albemarle County Police Department and Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on U.S. 29 at the interchange with Interstate 64.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash. A passenger in one of the vehicles, identified as 85-year-old Dewitt Hutchinson of Stuarts Draft, was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, where he later died. Hutchinson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to authorities.
The drivers of the other two vehicles were also taken to UVa with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Albemarle County Police Department. Authorities said they do not believe alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
