Black leads Mary Baldwin cross country at Eagle Challenge
Mary Baldwin cross country traveled to Bridgewater College on Tuesday to compete in the Eagle Cross Country Challenge.
For the women, senior Nicky Black led the way, placing eighth in the women's 4K with a time of 18:03.17.
Junior Ashley Bennett was the next Fighting Squirrel to finish, placing 16th with a time of 20:16.42.
Freshman Kailey Vaughan finished with a time of 23:41.79, followed by sophomore Madison Jones at 23:42.97. Sophomore Jasmine Louis finished in 28:09.09, while sophomore Mamie Goines-Thomas recorded a time of 29:19.61.
For the men, senior Caleb Smith was the Fighting Squirrels' top finisher, recording a time of 23:23.22. Fellow seniors Micah Ahearn-Wood and Daniel Diaczyszyn followed, finishing 36th and 38th, respectively, with times of 23:50.34 and 24:11.85.
Freshman Jonas Salefske recorded a time of 26:51.86 in his collegiate debut, while sophomore Tajee Groomes finished in 31:22.42.
Mary Baldwin will travel to Pennsylvania for the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12.
